Aum Organic Skincare Range

Aum Organic Skincare Range

To the untrained eye, natural and organic cosmetics appear to be flooding the market these days. While in the past many of us didn't give much thought to the beauty and personal care products which we used on our skin, as a result of today's greater health and environmental awareness we now tend to be more discerning, not blindly following smooth-talking advertising professionals, and their enticing yet frequently inaccurate product spiels. Despite the earnest claims of many so-called natural and organic products, a closer examination of their ingredients often reveals that they contain just as many potentially lethal ingredients as their less pretentious and substantially cheaper kin.

Fortunately not all is doom and gloom, however, for shoppers wishing to purchase beauty products which are genuinely natural and contain a large percentage of organic ingredients. Several companies exist which are dedicated to providing consumers with high quality personal care products, created from pure botanical ingredients. The only down-side of this new trend is the astronomical cost of most of these products, which are far beyond the budget of the average person. Then I discovered the Aum range and my problems were solved.

I first encountered the Aum range of personal care products while shopping at my local Myers store a couple of years ago. I was looking for a natural moisturiser which didn't cost a fortune and was just about to give up when a helpful sales assistant introduced me to the range, and specifically to the Firming Day Cream, which is still my favourite moisturiser more than two years later.

The Aum product range is made in Australia and has been organically certified by Ecocert, an organic certification organisation founded in France in 1991. They are free from parabens, sulphates, mineral oils, silicones, petrochemicals and artificial colours. Unlike many beauty products, they're also not tested on animals.

In comparison to most other organic cosmetic ranges, the Aum range is also remarkably affordable and my 50ml tube of moisturiser generally costs around $24.00 although I can sometimes buy it even cheaper when Myers has a sale. I can easily make this size tube last for two months, so for me this product represents incredible value.

Aum products encompass every aspect of beauty care, and include treatments, serums, eye care, skin brighteners, natural face lifts, hand creams, body moisturisers as well as facial moisturisers. As I'm on quite a tight budget, unfortunately I can't purchase all the products I'd like and therefore, I stick to a few favourites which I find work wonderfully for me. As mentioned earlier, I have found the Firming Day Cream is an absolute gem. It has a light smooth consistency which is easily absorbed by my skin and I find that just a small amount applied after cleansing is sufficient to keep my skin fresh and moisturised throughout the day. If I could take just one beauty product to a desert island, this would be the one for me.

My other favourite Aum product is its Bio Nourishing Jojoba Oil. Jojoba oil is a wax derived from the seeds of a shrub native to southern California and Arizona, and north-west Mexico, and is a popular ingredient in many natural and organic skin care products. The Aum jojoba oil comes in a 50ml glass bottle and lasts me for ages. It is 100 % organic and contains no other ingredients. Although I use the Firming Day Cream on a daily basis when I go out, I'll always use jojoba oil when I'm at home and overnight, instead of night cream since it's so nourishing. As it has a slightly oily consistency, I prefer not to wear it when I'm going anywhere, although I'll sometimes use a small amount it if I have sufficient time to let my skin absorb it. Aum's Bio Nourishing Jojoba Oil can also be used as lovely body moisturiser, and I use it for this purpose regularly.

Another Aum product which I can strongly recommend is the Nourishing Hand Cream. At around $17.00 for a 75ml tube this is a bargain, and since it lasts me for about six weeks it represents very good value. It has a light smooth consistency which spreads easily, and I'll often use it, mixed with a small amount of water, as a body moisturiser to make it stretch further.

Other Aum products which I've used and enjoyed are the Gentle Facial Foam Cleanser and the Ultra Hydrating Rose Facial Toner, which smell absolutely divine. Aum's use of pure aromatherapy oils in their products makes your skincare routine a thoroughly enjoyable experience. To help ease the appearance of fine lines, on a few occasions I've also used the Lifting Face Serum. However, this is a product which I'm not too keen about as it made my skin feel a bit tight and unnatural. Quite possibly I was using too much, though.

As mentioned earlier, Aum products are made using pure, mainly organic ingredients and are certified by Ecocert. Taking this into account, they are amazing value. Not only do they feel and smell great, but they're also kind to the planet, and your back pocket. Making your dollar stretch even further, Aum products are often available in special gift packs, and if you purchase from large department stores like Myers, there are often special offers. To find out more about Aum, take a look at their website.

In a nutshell, the Aum range is absolutely awesome and I'd strongly recommend it to anyone. By creating high quality, organic skincare products which are easily affordable, I'm convinced that they're genuinely committed to creating a healthier and greener world for us all to live in, not just an elite and wealthy few.
