Robert Gordon have a great selection of patty cases available, but the 'Le Petit Gateau' range has some of the best colours and designs, and they're great quality cases.

The designs available change frequently. It's disappointing if you fall in love with a particular style, like the discontinued red and white stripe, but it's also exciting because there is always something new available. Stripes are popular, as are florals, you can even get special packs with four different complementing styles.

One of the main benefits of the cases is that you don't actually need a muffin or cupcake pan to bake. They're strong and sturdy, and sit on just a plain oven tray. You're not limited to baking only 12 cupcakes at a time.

The cases don't discolour after baking, although you might notice a slight change if you've got darker coloured cupcakes like chocolate or red velvet. There are cases available in a similar shape, but with thinner paper, these don't hold their colour or shape as well as the Le Petit Gateau range. It's one of the reasons why these are so good if you want to create picture perfect cupcakes.

After baking

I do find the one problem is with overly oily or buttery mixtures. These can sometimes seep through the cases, and the result is less than desirable. It's probably more the fault of the recipe, but it's still a little disheartening. I've still had plenty of people gush over how good these 'oily' cupcakes look, even when I'm not happy with the result. I only get this issue with a small number of recipes.

Fig cupcakes are a little oily

Le Petit Gateau patty cases are available online or from select homewares stores. They cost $4.99AUD for a pack of 25. It's expensive when you compare it to the 100 packs of regular patty cases you can buy from supermarkets, but they're great for themed parties or special occasions when you want to splash out a bit.

They look great when mixed and matched, so don't feel you need to stick to just one design when you're baking a batch of cupcakes.

Have you tried Le Petit Gateau patty cases? What do you think?
