I am not a lipstick girl. I prefer the more natural make-up look and find that lipsticks tend to do the opposite even with nude or neutral shades. Moreover, I find them a bit of a hassle with the constant need for reapplication and touch-ups and they can get quite messy – unless you are using a long-wearing lipstick.
So ever since I first heard about lip stains, which promise to give your lips a sheer natural colour that is long lasting, I have been on an ongoing quest to find the perfect lip stain/tint. I have tried many lip stains from western cosmetic brands such as Revlon and Bourjois, to Asian cosmetic brands such as Etude House and TonyMoly, and so far the Rimmel London 1000 Kisses Lip Tint lip stains are the best ones I’ve tried.

For those who are not too familiar with lip stains, as the name implies they work by staining your lips, giving them a flush of colour to give you that your-lips-only-better look. You can even build on more colours for a more intense look. They usually come either in the form of gel, balm, or liquid.

The Rimmel London 1000 Kisses Lip Tint lip stain comes in liquid form. The application brush is designed to look like the tip of a marker for easy and precise application. On the other end of the tube, there is a moisturizing lip balm attached. This is a nice addition and is very handy because lip stains tend to slightly dry out your lips.

There are ten shades to choose from, and I have four of their shades in Nothing But Nude, Stay Very Berry, Carry On Cherry and Timeless Tango.

Nothing But Nude is a subtle neutral pink with a peach undertone, while Stay Very Berry is a nice berry pink. Both Nothing But Nude and Stay Very Berry look the most natural and subtle on me, hence they are the two shades I use the most often. They are perfect for casual daytime wear.

Carry On Cherry is a warm pinkish red shade, and I like to use it for more formal events.

Timeless Tango is a very pretty bright coral red shade, however it is a bit too bright for my liking (I'm just not that brave enough to pull off bright colours) so I rarely use it.

What I love about Rimmel's lip stains is that they are less drying than the others I've tried, and compared to Revlon's, their additional lip balm is more moisturizing.
They also manage to spread more evenly on my lips.
It is not the most long-lasting lip stain I've tried (it doesn't last through drinking and eating), but at least it fades evenly and does not leave patches on my lips like some of the other lip stains tend to do.

They have a slight berry cough-syrup type scent, which some people may detest while others may love. I personally don't really care for the scent.

I do not recommend lip stains to those who have dry lips though, as they will only emphasize the problem.
Lip stains are best applied on well prepped bare lips.

Rimmel London 1000 Kisses Lip Tints retail around AU$20 in Australia but you can purchase them from ASOS for around AU$11 with free shipping cost.
