Neal’s Yard is renowned for producing high quality products, which yield real results using natural ingredients. I have been using their face creams for a few years, but I have only recently discovered their hair range.

I am familiar with the properties of lavender, and thus purchased their Lavender Shampoo for fine or thinning hair. Admittedly my hair doesn’t need volume of any kind, nor do I suffer with fine hair, but a friend of mine who did have fine hair, said it made it so silky and manageable, I thought I’d give it a try.

It smells divine, and comes out almost like a body wash – it doesn’t lather much, but instead produces a more gentle shampoo, much like baby shampoo. This lavender one is actually recommended for babies because it is so ‘kind’ and mild for skin.

The shampoo itself only has a mild lavender scent, and smells slighter sweeter than expected. I generally use this shampoo when I wash my hair before bed because my pillow becomes scented with the irresistible natural smell, and I seem to drift off a bit easier.

In all honesty it doesn’t ‘do’ what it says on the tin, but it’s a beautiful shampoo to use. I didn’t find it cleansing, or deeply conditioning, but more of a softening shampoo that gives a lightness to your hair. If you prefer shampoo-ing in the morning the shampoo has a surprisingly calming effect, so you’ll have an easier morning, guaranteed.

It only has a three month shelf life because of the natural ingredients, but it’s worth using because it is just lovely.

They’re very up front with their ingredients and state all of the organic ingredients on the back of the bottle. It also states on the front of the bottle ‘85%’ organic ingredients. So it’s perfect for sensitive skin, and won’t cause any irritation to your scalp.

Overall I find this shampoo a joy to use; the smell is lovely, it is moisturising and gentle on your scalp, and makes your hair baby-soft, but still very clean. It's more of a very mild '2in1' shampoo and conditioner, as opposed to a deep cleansing shampoo.

I'd say buy this shampoo if your hair is fine because it will 'work' at both cleaning and softening your hair. For curly hair, however I consider it the perfect bottle of 'poo to cleanse and moisturise when you're in a rush because it does both.
