An abundance of Maltesers Malteaster Bunny Bars

This adorable, guilt free sized chocolate bunny may just melt our hearts this Easter. The Maltesers Malteaster Bunny Bar was a huge success in the UK, with the likes of Tesco selling them in record numbers and now it looks like Woolworths might be following this trend for Australia.

How each bar looks. About to tuck in.

Who would have thought that a 29gram chocolate treat would taste so delicious. Then again, chocolate is designed to be delicious and this treat just satisfies that chocolate craving without the need for more. The malt flavour that you would find in those normal Maltesters is more intense in this treat, yet not overly sweet, considering the intensity of the flavours involved. The best of both worlds is still enjoyed, yet in the shape of a rabbit: chocolate and malt. The malt pieces lean towards a combination of crunchy and chewy with a smooth texture in your mouth afterwards.

Delicious malt filling

It is a pity that this sweet treat only comes out for Easter, but when stock supplies have run low in Sydney, there is always more. Even when I went to my local 7-Eleven, one minute these gorgeous chocolate and malt rabbits were stocked up, and one day later, they had almost sold out. 7-Eleven charges $1.80 for each bunny, while at Woolworths they're consistently on special for $1 each.

The writer has currently replaced her dark chocolate supplies with one of these bunnies a day in the fridge at home. I prefer them straight from the fridge, but they're just as good consumed at room temperature. For many chocolate lovers, eating fridge cold chocolate is not ideal, however both the malt and chocolate flavours shine out even more when refrigerated prior to consumption. This is when expecting the unexpected is so cool. After all, many of us are yearning for more surprises in the treats that we enjoy.

The packaging is bright, attractive and rather shiny. $1 per day is not that much for satisfying that chocolate craving once a day.
