Doodle All Year is another book that joins Taro Gomi's huge collection of fun activity books. This one is all about the seasons, and as young kids doodle their way through the pages, they'll also be able to learn a little bit about spring, summer, winter, and autumn.

Taro Gomi's books are often filled with simple illustrations, and tempting suggestions. In Doodle All Year you'll give a gorilla a swimming costume so he can enjoy the beach during Summer, or draw wooly hats and scarves so that children don't catch a cold during winter. You don't have to be a spectacular artist to end up with a great picture.

Give them warm scarves and hats

The book is divided into the four seasons, starting at Spring and going through Summer, Autumn and Winter. A fun game to play with younger children is to pick a picture at random, and guess which season it belongs to before you start colouring it in. Some of the associations are pretty loose, but it's not really a problem.

There aren't as many activities as you'll find in some of the larger Doodle books, but it's not just a colouring book either. Most of the activities require kids (or adults) to use their imagination, from designing clothes to decorating a bedroom. It's the creativity factor that makes the book loads of fun.

Draw the sounds of shouting all around them like a comic book

Doodle All Year isn't just for children, and like most of Taro Gomi's books can be enjoyed by people of all ages. With the seasonal theme, it's not quite as crazy and entertaining as some of the other Doodle books, but it does become a great time waster.

If you're looking for a present for a hard-to-buy-for child, Doodle books are a great answer. They'll keep kids entertained for hours, and they don't rely on characters from Disney movies or cartoon shows. Recently there have been a couple of similar books released that follow the same ideas as Taro Gomi's activity books, but none are quite as fun or inventive.

The book is best for kids over 5 years, as younger children aren't likely to get as much from the different activities. So buy a copy for yourself or someone else, and let your imagination take over.
