Beautiful Textures is the brand dedicated to curly, 'textured' hair. I have never come across a brand of hair care which aims to soften and encourage afro, or natural kinks because a lot of brands aim to straighten a curly mane. Beautiful Textures, is thus a revelation, and part of the answer to happy, healthy, natural hair.
I only came across it by visiting a less than familiar cosmetics store just outside of Manchester city centre.
For £5.49 a relatively standard-sized bottle of Tangle Taming leave-in Conditioner claims to handle 'curly, wavy, kinky, coily, and frizzy' hair.
They're heavy statements to make, and it will lure in the desperate, but I thought I'd give the leave-in conditioner a go.
Firstly, the ingredients list was surprisingly natural. Beautiful Textures doesn't stated that they use a mostly natural ingredients in their products because I'm guessing they feel it may detract from the product and brand itself. Nonetheless, I was impressed by the inclusion of natural oils and herbs, which are known to soften unruly hair.
On the back of the bottle the product is described as a conditioner which lengthens and stretches out curls even though it is a lightweight formula.
This is not strictly true. The conditioner does stretch out my curls, but it isn't a lightweight product by any means. My hair, in fact, felt somewhat 'heavy' with product.
The conditioner has a thick, but less 'wet' consistency of regular conditioner. It is more of rich cream you apply to the hair.
White in colour (like most leave-in conditioners), it takes a little while to absorb in to the hair, so I wouldn't advise using it if you're in a rush. If you are however, and you want a beautifully textured head of hair, I suggest an organised approach, and would apply the product at least 10 minutes before leaving the house, so you don't have the slight residue coating your hair.
Overall I give this product a seven out of ten. It does what it says on the tin, but is one of those products which works with time. Fifteen minutes after working the product through my hair, my curly mane is gorgeous, 10 minutes earlier and I still have an ever so slight white tinge. Be patient though because the results are worth it.
