Be Pur is a new coconut water brand I've only just tried. I'm always eager to try different brands of coconut water because they all have their own subtle differences. Zico is somewhat nutty and drying for my liking, Cocofina is pretty standard, and Vita Coco has a woody taste, which I'm really not a fan of.
Be coconut water is new on the market, and I found it, sitting humbly amongst the other brands in Worldwide supermarket on Wilmslow Road.
At £1.99 a litre, it's one of the cheapest I've found for that amount. I was hoping the price had nothing to do with the taste, and thankfully I wasn't disappointed.
Like all of the other brands it states '100% coconut water' on the back, so you know nothing has been added. I would prefer if if said 'young' coconut water, but I'm a little pedantic.
Interestingly, when I poured myself a glass of this new coconut water, instead of seeing the familiar, clear, but slightly cloudy drink pour from the carton, this one had 'bits' in.
Before you recoil in disgust, the 'bits' were merely pieces of coconut flesh. I like this, because it's exactly what happens you pour the water from a young coconut into a glass - some of the inside jelly-like flesh comes out with it.
I'm only hoping they do the exact same as they crack open the young coconuts and pour it into the cartons. It also makes me question the filtering process of the other brands. The flesh is full of protein and essential vitamins, so why throw it away? I hope that was the reasoning behind the inclusion of the yummy coconut pieces.
Thankfully, they're too small to really notice when you take a sip, so you're drink is as smooth and hydrating, as it should be.
